Eyes Wide Open

I have an appointment today with an eye doctor. Yes, I had an eye exam a few weeks ago. My annual check up... did I blog about it? Can't remember. Anyway, they dilated my eyes then as they usually do.

They are sending me to a specialist to be checked for Placquanil toxicity. Precautionary at this point. This is the RA medicine I take and it can cause blindness  with prolonged use. I've been on it for about 5 or 6 years. So, if they find I have it, I have to stop taking it immediately.

Guess what? Today this new doctor will also dilate my eyes! My last experience was horrible so today, I'll take Mike with me and he will drive me home. I was virtually blind last time for hours. I had to drive in bright sunlight without adequate sunglasses. I stopped and bought some but they were not enough. My eyes were so dilated that there was no visible color, just two huge black pools. Freaky.

I shall let you know what happens.

  1. Sorry about your eye problem. I tried it a few weeks for fibromyalgia but had to get off. I can't seem to find anything I can take either. It is no fun and unless a person has this experience they really don't know. Hope nad pray you feel better soon.

  3. I remember that you said the man was going to retire because it was too expensive to stay in business, something like that?

I am glad that you are taking Mike with you because you should be doing that anyway. Wow, I'm really mommying you. Sorry about that. Hope it goes well--keep us posted!

  4. Oh, my normal eye doctor said he was going to probably be forced to retire due to all the changes they are making in the government program.

I did take Mike with me but he was in such a horrible mood and was sooo nasty. Took him home as soon as I was done. My plan was to let him drive me home but he left me there at the last minute (stupid appointment took two hours! I was with the doctor 30 minutes of that!) and I was standing outside in the cold with NO sunglasses. Then he got ugly with me because I was mad about it. I told him if I could stand out in the cold and sun with dilated eyes and wait on him I could certainly drive myself home.

  6. I was about to say that I am glad that you had Mike but then I read your comment. What is it with our adult children that they can be like stroppy toddlers? Very inconsiderate. Hope that you get good news regarding your eyes.
