Busy Weekend

I've felt pretty good most of this weekend. Not a lot of pain most days. One day my hip had a catch in it but it seemed to pass off by the end of the day.

I've been hustling around getting things together for the NaNoWriMo Kick Off. I hesitate to call it a party since we really just use it to meet up and get acquainted with all the local participants. This year I do have some goody bags to give out... well, I'm working on them. I've put out feelers to see if everyone wants to bring goodies to share. We'll see. I have the date and time but the location is a problem still.

I don't actually have an idea of anything to write. I'm had a couple of thoughts but can't call them ideas at all. I suppose it will come.. or not. I hope it will!

Dave and Becca have decided they are going to try and work things out and they've spent the weekend getting her and Sarah settled back in. She's stayed with me for a week. I'm glad they're doing this. They get along so well and it would really be a shame to throw away seven years.

Sarah is learning to read. She's so excited about it. We tease her and tell her that now she can read stories to us. I can't wait until I make her read the same story three times. She loves books and stories.

I've not had time for much of anything so I'm probably behind reading my friends blogs. I'm behind in doing a lot. Did I already say that?

Tomorrow is a new work week and the boss is out for six days! I will get so much done if all goes well and people will not call me.

  1. You're doing great ML stuff! I hope your local writers appreciate it.
For the first time there will be some NaNo activities at a library near me. I'm excited; this area's been a black hole of NaNo activity.
So good to hear that Dave and Becca are trying to reconcile.
Have you considered that making Sarah read something 3 times could kill the love? It would have for my daughter; probably me, too.

    1. No, it won't kill her love for reading. Her mother read to her before she came into the world. She's heard some stories dozens of times. And tonight, she read a story to me three times and to her mother twice times. So I got it five times. It isn't a matter of making her do anything at this point. She's already doing it on her own.

  2. I have often thought about competing in the NaNoWriMo myself, but just don't have the patience to write on a novel every day. I am more into my flash fiction. Perhaps if I start now for next year, I might produce something worth while. Good luck to your work.

  3. I read all the time, and love reading blogs, but in no way consider myself a writer. It fascinates me, thinking about putting a story together and creating characters. I think about that while reading - I appreciate the work and the talent. I've never heard of NaNoWriMo, so will be following along as I learn something new.

  4. Good morning! It's a great thing when our children and grandchildren love to read! Sarah is so cute. I know it is a joy to hear her and see her delight!
I am behind a lot on blogging and visiting pages too!
Hope you have a good week.

  5. I am so pleased to hear that you have had a good weekend. I can feel your excitement for Nano from here. I am sure the ideas will come soon. You can do this.

I am thrilled to hear that Dave and Becca are giving things another go. Good news all round.

It is wonderful when they start to read isn't it. Ellie has been reading for over a year and is really very good. She loves books.

  6. Sarah is spelling every word she sees. I suspect in her mind, that's also reading. She's like this huge sponge that is just absorbing. She's become fascinated with writing too. Constantly wants a pen and paper. I wish I'd gotten her a pen with her name on it when I was in the Smokeys.

She adores books, too. Everyone buys them for her so she's well equipped. And she and I have Kindel PC (free) and I download free children's books. She's developing an ear for what is not well written. We found one that I swear was written by a child. While it was a child's book, neither of us thought much of it. I believe the word was "boring"!
